SUN 22 JUNE 2025 | Broedplaats Tante Nino (Kop van Zuid) | 12:30 – 14:00 | The Sound Kitchen (composition workshop for children)

Led by composers Saskia Venegas and Panos Gklistis, including a performance of the music created during the workshop by members of Ensemble Oihua.
Participants: Children aged 9–14, all levels welcome.

In The Sound Kitchen, participants expand their compositional palette and learn new tricks of the trade. Results from previous workshops were sometimes astonishing, as children—unhindered by preconceptions—discover surprising forms and sounds.

Workshop Structure:

  • Introduction: Discover the basic principles of music by linking sounds to images.

  • Creative Notation: Learn elements of aleatoric music and record them in a graphic score.

  • Composition: Use a story as inspiration to collaboratively create an original composition and graphic score.

  • Performance: The participants and members of Ensemble Oihua present their concert at Tante Nino.
